One of the plans of the devil is to keep us from our inheritance and relationship with God. So he has created this form of soul travel for his purposes. When a soul leaves the body, the body is then open to be inhabited by other spirits, demonic or humans from the spiritual world. As our soul travels around it is subject to attack itself, by demonic spirits that can do astral rituals on it, or even have sex with it.
