A Prayer for Times of Refreshing
Refreshing, renewal, revival. Many words of similar meanings. We all come to a point in our lives where we genuinely need a refresher. Whether you’re a leader, pastor, etc… we all need refreshing. Sometimes the battle of warfare, our daily lives and personal battles can be tiring without us even noticing it. Before we know it, we pick up unnecessary baggage – feeling weighed down by life nearly engulfed by waves of stress, tiredness and on the brink of giving up. Left sometimes questioning our place in ministry, marriage, work, etc… However, we serve such a faithful and loving God. One who is always there to refresh and renew and restore us in times of need. As you read this prayer, I pray that you would be completely yielded to the Spirit of God, allowing Him to minister to you and guide you according to His will.
Dear Heavenly Father, we come boldly before you to the throne of grace – giving you all the glory, honor and the praise. Father, according to Hebrews 13:15, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” God, you are righteous, you are my sanctifier, you are my healer, you are my Banner of Victory, you are my Shephard, you are my peace, you are my Provider. According to Proverbs 18:10, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” Father, may our greatest desire be for You and Your will to be done in our lives in the name of Jesus.
Lord, we repent for every time we didn’t trust you. We repent for every time we chose to go in our own direction. We repent according to Acts 3:19, “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,”

In the name and the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, we repent, renounce and denounce these things and all associated spirits. We bind them all as one, we address them all as one and we command them to come up and out in Jesus’ name – to the dry, barren place in the mighty matchless name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father, we ask for the refreshing. We ask for a revival, a restoring, and a rejuvenation in the name of Jesus.
Prayer points with scripture:
- Lord, we declare your word according to Jeremiah 31:25, “For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.”
I decree that my soul is satisfied, fed and nourished to the full in Jesus’ name. - According to Psalms 23:3, “He restores my soul, He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His names sake.”
I yield to the leader of the Great Shepherd.
As I am led in the paths of righteousness, I decree obedience is my portion in Jesus’ name.
Lord, reignite my passion, drive and hunger for You, my life, my family, my ministry and even the things I may not see or be aware of in the name of Jesus. - According to Proverbs 3:7-8, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh and strength to your bones.”
Lord, help us depart from worldly wisdom according to James 3:14-16, “But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.”
Lord, we rest in your Godly wisdom (according to Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.” and James 3:17, “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”
Lord, we bless Your name for extending us healing and strength to our bodies and even our spirit man. - According to Isaiah 40:31, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Father, we ask that all departed glory and virtue would be restored in Jesus’ name.
Father, remind us that You are the source of our energy and endurance when we feel tired and overwhelmed.
Father, we acknowledge that there’s nothing we can do in our own strength, but with You all that is set forth will be done with renewed vigor.
Father, give us the wings of an eagle to SOAR to the place of fulfillment and nourishment you have set forth for us.
Lord, we receive grace to not give up. We rebuke all forms of defeat. We receive grace to succeed and see the goodness of the land of the living according to Psalm 27:13, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”
I DECREE – I WILL FINISH THE RACE IN JESUS’ NAME!
(As I was writing this, I began to have a vision of a track meet (4×4). Where the runners were on their last leg. I saw a baton in hand and the take off was smooth. God reminded me that the last leg is usually the strongest, most powerful runner of the race.) An example here: https://tinyurl.com/47yn65xs
Lord, I bless your name and thank You for those who co-labor in the kingdom. Thank you for the encouragers you’ve placed in our lives in our time of need according to Philemon 1:7, “For we have great joy and consolation in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed by you, brother,” and Romans 15:32, “that I may come to you with joy by the will of God, and may be refreshed together with you.”
Lord, we ask that you would bring a refreshing and revival to the body of Christ. According to the following scriptures:
1 Corinthians 1:10 – Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Psalms 133:1 – Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Ephesians 4:3-6 – Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Acts 4:32 – Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.
Romans 14:19 – Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.
Father, let us be not of selfish gain, but in service and due diligence to You according to Philippians 2:14-16, “Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.”
Father, we ask that you would revive our passion to see people come to faith in Jesus, praying for the lost, the widow, the sick, the hungry, and the captives. Giving us the boldness to speak concerning the Gospel unlike ever before. Helping us to be intentional daily according to Romans 9:1-3, “I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart. 3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh…”
According to Matthew 9:38, “Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” As verse 37 says, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” Lord, we ask for more dedicated workers into the fields. Help us be discerning and led by your Holy Spirit of when our brothers and sisters and even the church has a need. Helping us to be servants, serving, being dedicated to the call of Christ Jesus. We ask for an outpouring of your Holy Spirit, like a mighty rushing wind in the days of Pentecost (Acts 2:2). Pour out Your Spirit like a purifying flood. Lord, please purify our motives by Your precious blood. Separate us from any wickedness, anything that is unrighteous, unclean, unholy or in common with the enemy.
We pray for a mighty move of God in the realms of government, business, education, news, media, music industry and every sector that you see fit for revival.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the restoration of hope, peace and courage. Lord, You are my strength. My heart trusts in You. Lord, we thank You for the refreshing. We are forever grateful for the work you’ve done yesterday, today and forevermore Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
In the mighty matchless name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
