Spirit of Laban

The word Laban means light, but most times, those bearing the name live contrary to its meaning. The spirit of Laban is a manipulating spirit. This spirit is not different from the spirit of witchcraft because it manipulates men. Manipulation is different from oppression.

Portiphar experienced God’s blessings in all he did because of Joseph’s presence in his household, yet he refused to set him free. Every power using your glory to shine or using your destiny to prosper will go down in the name of Jesus.

Egypt was sustained in a time lean or famine by the wisdom of Joseph. Joseph represented the defeat of Layan as he ascended to second in command in the most powerful empire in the word during that era.

The Spirit of Laban is always working against the glory that God has desired  for you to have 

Secondly, the spirit of Laban is a pursuing spirit. As seen in Gen. 31:13-32, 

it was chasing Jacob to and fro.

Also, the spirit of Laban is an ancestral spirit from your father’s house assigned to monitor and frustrate you. It is the spirit of an idol. Laban had an idol in his house that he was always consulting to monitor Jacob’s activities. 

Laban’s Characteristics 

1.Laban Recognizes the glory on your life 

2.Rocognizes potentials and gifts 

3.Recognizes influence and leadership qualities

4.Laban will attempt to keep you around because he recognizes that anything you touch is blessed. 

5.He will give you false authority, but has no intentions of allowing you to lead or go.

6.He will syphon off of your anointing and call you blessed 

7.He doesn’t play fair nor does he keep his word, changes rules and compensation on formalized agreement, does not respect people who operate in integrity

8.Laban in an ancient ancestral spirit —> we see him in egypt 

9.Uses idols/ monitoring spirit to control and observe your progress only in effort to keep you paralized to the condition that you’re in.

10. You will never be his priority

Jacob Flees From Laban

Genesis 31:1-21 

1 Jacob heard that Laban’s sons were saying, “Jacob has taken everything our father owned and has gained all this wealth from what belonged to our father.†2 And Jacob noticed that Laban’s attitude toward him was not what it had been.3 Then the Lord said to Jacob, “Go back to the land of your fathers and to your relatives, and I will be with you.â€4 So Jacob sent word to Rachel and Leah to come out to the fields where his flocks were. 5 He said to them, “I see that your father’s attitude toward me is not what it was before, but the God of my father has been with me. 6 You know that I’ve worked for your father with all my strength, 7 yet your father has cheated me by changing my wages ten times. However, God has not allowed him to harm me. 8 If he said, ‘The speckled ones will be your wages,’ then all the flocks gave birth to speckled young; and if he said, ‘The streaked ones will be your wages,’ then all the flocks bore streaked young. 9 So God has taken away your father’s livestock and has given them to me.10 “In breeding season I once had a dream in which I looked up and saw that the male goats mating with the flock were streaked, speckled or spotted. 11 The angel of God said to me in the dream, ‘Jacob.’ I answered, ‘Here I am.’ 12 And he said, ‘Look up and see that all the male goats mating with the flock are streaked, speckled or spotted, for I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you. 13 I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and where you made a vow to me. Now leave this land at once and go back to your native land.’â€14 Then Rachel and Leah replied, “Do we still have any share in the inheritance of our father’s estate? 15 Does he not regard us as foreigners? Not only has he sold us, but he has used up what was paid for us. 16 Surely all the wealth that God took away from our father belongs to us and our children. So do whatever God has told you.â€17 Then Jacob put his children and his wives on camels, 18 and he drove all his livestock ahead of him, along with all the goods he had accumulated in Paddan Aram,[a] to go to his father Isaac in the land of Canaan. 19 When Laban had gone to shear his sheep, Rachel stole her father’s household gods. 20 Moreover, Jacob deceived Laban the Aramean by not telling him he was running away. 21 So he fled with all he had, crossed the Euphrates River, and headed for the hill country of Gilead.

On a particular day, when he went to consult the idol, he couldn’t find it because his daughter, Rachael took and hid it. Invariably, this brought about the end of his evil manipulation in Jacob’s life.

I pray for you, every idol of your father’s house that has been assigned to monitor your life, may the ground open and swallow them in Jesus name.

Finally, the spirit of Laban is the spirit that will not allow you to fulfil your destiny (Gen. 31:6-7). It will always fight with the aim of bringing you down to the lowest level in life

6 You know that I’ve worked for your father with all my strength, 7 yet your father has cheated me by changing my wages ten times. However, God has not allowed him to harm me.

Strategy to defeat the spirit  of Layban

The following are ways to deal with the spirit of Laban. Firstly, you must be born again by confessing Jesus Christ as the Lord and Saviour of your life. 

Next, you should identify the spirit in operation in your life 

Proverbs 11:9, NLT:

 “With their words, the godless destroy their friends, but knowledge will rescue the righteous.”

John 8: 32 KJV 

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Thirdly, you must engage in warfare prayers and break yourself loose from his grip. 

Jeremiah 30:8 kjv

8 For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:

Ps. 18:44–48 KJV

44 As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.45 The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.46 The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.47 It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.48 He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

Prayer Points

•Every power using your glory to shine or using your destiny to prosper will go down in the name of Jesus.

•Whatever power is pursuing you to catch and put you in bondage will die now in Jesus name. 

•I pray for you, every idol of your father’s house that has been assigned to monitor your life, may the ground open and swallow them in Jesus name.

• My Father! Any power that does not want me to fulfil my destiny, die in Jesus name.

• My father! Let my long awaited joy manifest now by fire.

• Every idol of my father’s house that is troubling my life, in the name of Jesus, break!

• Every curse issued against my life, in the name of Jesus, break!

• Curses that make people struggle in my family, in the name of Jesus, break!

• Father! I release myself from evil blood covenants established through incision or sex in Jesus name.

• Any hidden covenant or curses established through my dream or where I went, in the name of Jesus, break!

•I pray for you, every idol of your father’s house that has been assigned to monitor your life, may the ground open and swallow them in Jesus name.
